How to Love the Water: A Guide for Dogs and Pups

Summer is here and it is H.O.T!

Stella and I LOVE cooling off in the pool—not the bath—but we know swimming can be scary for some of you…we’re not sure why…because it’s super duper fun! F.U.N! Jump in the pool (or any open body of water), with our tips and tricks!

It’s time to dip your paws in:

  • Start off in shallow water. It may take a few puppy steps to adjust. Take your time!
  • Buddy up. Swimming is more fun with friends. Take your favorite toy or human along for a splash!
  • Practice, practice, practice. Swimming isn’t quite like walking, so it’ll take time to get the hang of things.
  • Still scared? If you’re still not sure about getting in, there are floatation devices for all sizes and breeds!

As always, be safe when swimming. When called to shore, it’s best to obey—no if’s, and’s, or but’s! And if you find water really isn’t for you (we’re still not sure why…), keep all four paws on dry land, and find a hose!

Enjoy the rest of your summer, and stay cool!
