PK Event Highlight: The One Where the Krewe Visited Zeus Rescues
Pet Krewe brings Salty Cat to rescued cats for a purr-fect day of giving back!
At Pet Krewe, our passion has always been more than costumes — it’s about celebrating the joy pets bring into our lives and giving back to the communities that care for them. Recently, our team had the privilege of spending a day at Zeus Rescues, a local rescue dedicated to saving homeless pets in the New Orleans area. Our mission was simple but meaningful: to share a meal with the rescued cats, spend time in their company, and offer a little comfort to the animals waiting for their forever homes.
Armed with dishes from our own Salty Cat line, we filled bowls with wholesome food and watched as curious whiskers and bright eyes gathered around. For us, it wasn’t just about feeding them — it was about pausing to connect, to listen to the soft purrs, and to be reminded of the resilience of rescue cats who have endured so much yet still offer love so freely.
About Zeus Place: Rescuing with Heart

Zeus’ Rescues has a mission that goes beyond adoption. Their goal is nothing short of eradicating pet homelessness and reducing euthanasia across the New Orleans metro area. The organization, led by longtime rescuer Michelle Cheramie, pulls animals from high-kill shelters and finds them forever homes.
With roots in rescue work dating back to Hurricane Katrina, Michelle and her all-volunteer team work tirelessly — not only to save lives but also to educate the community about the importance of spay/neuter programs and responsible pet care.
Zeus Rescues thrives thanks to private donations, grants, and a dedicated network of volunteers. Their partnerships, including work with Best Friends Animal Society, strengthen lifesaving efforts and ensure that every animal they rescue has the best chance at a new beginning.
Feeding the Rescued Cats with Salty Cat
When the Pet Krewe team arrived, we were greeted by curious whiskers and wide eyes. Our goal was to launch a feeding program for Zeus Rescues' cats using Salty Cat, our premium natural cat food brand.
What makes Salty Cat special? It’s all about clean, limited ingredients — real proteins like tuna, salmon, and chicken, with no soy, artificial colors, or synthetic preservatives. Every recipe starts with a protein-rich broth to support hydration, something especially important for cats who don’t naturally drink enough water. From Chicken Casserole in Gravy to Salmon in Gravy, each dish is crafted to deliver both flavor and nutrition.
Beyond meals, Salty Cat also offers functional treats like Happy Tummy for digestion, Silky Skin and Coat for healthy fur, and Chill Out, a chamomile- and vitamin B6-infused option designed to help nervous cats feel more at ease. The Zeus Rescues cats got to enjoy a little bit of it all — and from the enthusiastic purrs and eager paws, we think it was a hit.
Voices from the Krewe

For our team, the visit wasn’t just about filling food bowls — it was about slowing down, crouching beside curious cats, and sharing a few quiet moments of companionship. The room buzzed with gentle purrs, soft paws reaching out for attention, and that unmistakable sense of calm that comes from being surrounded by animals who simply want to be loved.
Our newly promoted Chief of Marketing Officer, Catie Pauley, captured the feeling best after spending the afternoon bonding with the rescues:
“Visiting the cats at Zeus’ Place was the best way to spend an afternoon. We loved getting some real-life taste testers of our cat treats... they seemed to be a hit!”
Her words reflect what all of us felt that day — joy in seeing the cats content, gratitude for the tireless work of Zeus Rescues, and a renewed commitment to supporting local rescues in meaningful ways.
An Eventful and Heartfelt Visit
The visit to Zeus Rescues was a reminder of the incredible work being done every day in our community. Rescues like Zeus Rescues are on the frontlines, giving abandoned and at-risk pets a second chance. By sharing a meal with the cats and supporting their care, Pet Krewe hopes to shine a light on the importance of adopting, volunteering, and donating to local shelters.
If you’d like to support Zeus Rescues, consider stopping by their facility between 9–3, volunteering to walk a pup, or donating to help their lifesaving mission. And if you’re a cat parent, try Salty Cat — because every cat deserves food that’s as good for them as it is delicious.
Together, we can make tails wag, whiskers twitch, and lives brighter.
